Power Trip, Black Breath and Centuries zahrají v ČR

Power TripIt’s a long way to the top if you want to thrash, but Power Trip are very much on their way. Since the release of their debut LP, Manifest Decimation, the band have been playing and touring ceaselessly with everyone from international names like Lamb of God and Anthrax, right through a comprehensive list of the best operating in the hardcore, metal and punk underground. With their trademark reverb-drenched old school attack that brings to mind Cro-Mags and early Sepultura amongst others, Power Trip remain one of the most convincing and gratifying bands to listen to and experience, and their new record in the works (due out on Southern Lord this summer) is set to cement that legacy with more of their savage formula to get heads banging and bodies flying.

Before that record is released, they will be touring for the best part of a month across Europe, for the first time since their trip over here with Bane in 2013. These dates are highly anticipated and kick off in just under two weeks. Watch live footage of some of their many sets from hate5six to get an idea of what to expect, and listen to Manifest Decimation at their bandcamp.

Black BreathThe wait is over – death metal ragers Black Breath will return to Europe this June and July for a short run of dates. Making for a summer of pure savagery, these dates come off the back of the band’s latest LP Slaves Beyond Death which was surely one of the highlights of the extreme music underground last year. The record shows the quintet’s groove-laden amalgam of hardcore and death metal with an even harsher, bleaker tone than before, with fifty-minutes of adrenaline-fuelled oppressiveness, each of its eight tracks running between five and eight minutes in length. The Seattle five-piece are entirely relentless in their intensity, presenting innumerable ferocious riffs across the eight songs, wicked inventiveness at the heart of its might. Galloping, triumphant melodies reminiscent of Sweden lead in to gruelling slammers that unravel at a torturer’s pace, while the rasping death-rattles from vocalist Neil McAdams paint a vivid picture of unending suffering in life and beyond the grave. Devoid of self-serving technicality and bombast, Slaves Beyond Death works torrents of scorn into lively, undeniably entertaining songwriting, an enviable quality that has been present in all of Black Breath’s material, and is certainly still the case now.

You’ll be wanting to listen to Slaves Beyond Death now – do so at their Bandcamp.

CenturiesFlorida’s abrasive hardcore act Centuries have confirmed the dates of a comprehensive month long tour across Europe with fellow statesmen Wrong, making it their first time performing here since 2014. Centuries play emotive, blackened hardcore with a strong sense of urgency, surging with tragic melodies, volatile d-beat leanings and angst-ridden vocal vitriol – their 2013 debut LP for Southern Lord, Taedium Vitae, is an intense listen with moments of unique fascination – white noise nose dives, string-wrenching clamour and an all encompassing overcast mood.

The band are currently wrapping up the recording for the follow up full-length, with more details to follow, but watch the tour trailer they’ve made for the upcoming dates here and listen to Taedium Vitae at their Bandcamp.
